Turning a Blind Eye?

Going by the headline and proverb in the truest sense, believing in it wasn't exactly the case at least a few months ago. Yet, gradually it gained ground…

More severely.

While the world was just getting accustomed to the banes of the pandemic, all that people opined and were concerned about were the rising number of cases in the country, learning about various safety measures, and the mass exodus of the migrant workers. It seemed disgruntling to consume, yet news seemed to be the pathway to the real happenings of the world. Just people were being advised to remain indoors as much as possible, nothing could seem to be as good as learning to know what's happening all around…

Yet, these instances and daily happenings seem to backfire now; so much so that amid the falling of the economy, India overtaking Brazil among the worst affected countries in the world, have taken a back seat; where the front seat is being rigidly occupied by the amount of drug consumption by Bollywood stars, involvement of celebrities of a higher status, and of course discussions concerning the demolition of actresses' office premises, and tracking every detail of her travelling back to Mumbai from her hometown.

What followed were an immense plethora of reactions, opinions and comments in social media, that also went up as WhatsApp statuses, where people expressed their happiness cum wrath.

And, these opinions were not only restricted to people's close circles. They were all over social media. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even LinkedIn! Why?

Also, is this the correct time for discussing such things? Can we please for time being, and also for the time being focus on things that require our kind attention? In case, such discussions seem dearer to heart, could we at least try to postpone, and try investing more in ourselves?

Or maybe, we can try out a new strategy that we never strategised before. Or I have just figured out a new strategy, which is turning a blind eye. Since the last few days, this practice has worked out well, maybe after a few days, shall be the deaf ear as well. Time will tell.
