The Path of Truth

There is a Sanskrit saying that in the Kali Yuga — that is the times in which we are living the only way to realise God is by speaking the truth. The proponents of the theory add that it is easier said than done, and there are some circumstances where we have to lie, but we have to try to speak the truth as much as possible.

Perhaps this anecdote of Thakur Shri Ramakrishna’s father will help in making my arguments stronger. There was a time when the father of Thakur Shri Ramakrishna, a strictly pious man, was forced to leave his village as he refused to be a false witness to someone. In those days people hardly had the money to build two houses, leave apart one, and leaving one’s own native place was actually a matter of great turmoil but he chose to hold onto the truth no matter what.

It is true that he and his family had to go through a lot of turmoil but in the end, the great Thakur Shri Ramakrishna was born to him, and the rest, as they say, is history. Also, one of the benefits of always speaking the truth is that one doesn’t have to forcibly remember everything, as the truth never changes, it remains the same all the time.

Having said that in our real lives we do encounter many such situations where we have to lie, for the sake of ourselves and our family, but we have to make sure that lies do not exceed the truth. All of these might seem to be difficult at first but they can for sure be achieved. We just have to take the steps towards trying.

They say that change begins with you and I am going to implement this in my life, starting today. Actually, truth be told I have followed this path for quite some time, and I have to say that this path is really powerful beyond limits. Guess it’s now time to reconnect with our powers.

And, it starts today, right now!
