Monday Blues, eh?

To talk of Monday blues specifically wouldn’t totally be a novelty, rather on the contrary, would turn out to be one of the most popularly discussed topics so far. Now, the point is, where did this term germinate from exactly? Was it because Sundays were too pompous an affair, that took a heavy toll on Monday, which the layman coined as ‘Monday Blues’, or was it because Mondays are just a painstaking phenomena?

Mondays are fun these days, innit?

Here, a contrary thought arises, mostly about the occurrence of Monday blues, amid this remote working scenario; where weekdays and weekends are mostly spent on the couch, as the novel virus has its invisible, coupled with its invincible arms and legs, all set to grapple you. Quite inadvertently, you accept vanquishment, and decide to rely on the couch instead.

Swearing by truth, could you vouch for the fact that your Sunday was a lot more different than your Monday? Probably not. I’d care to explain of course. Imagine you were deeply engrossed in binging on the latest episode of ‘Dark’, one that you began on Sunday, that got you completely hooked onto. Come Monday, you logged onto your virtual office setup, got prepared for the days work, and quite unexpectedly wanted to do away with the beginning of your week’s fatigue by binging on ‘Dark’ again. Unless you have Zoom calls to attend to, or any form of virtual meet that’d be requiring your presence virtually, you are pretty much good to go.

Here, in case, your home office desk seems a little coarse, there’s the ever saviour couch always at your service. You lay down with a pack of fries, and decide to binge on Dark, also keeping a keen eye on your office. You are less likely and seldom to get bothered, unless, there’s something not very urgent from the office, that’d be requiring your attention undoubtedly. Watching Dark, even gives you the liberty to zone out at your own perusal, without actually taking the pain of going to office, and risking your life by indulging in any of the frivolities back in office, or in the days of the ‘old normal’.

Yet, in this scenario, do the Monday, Tuesday, and mid weeks blues literally seem any different, or are they robust enough to establish a strong name for themselves in the current scenario? Possibly not, and even if they do are the results so very ever lasting?
