I am a Woman. And, I can’t Multitask!
Yeah! You did read it correctly.
I am a 28-year-old female, who is horrible at multitasking. You will know why shortly.
Let me begin by giving examples from my professional life where I write for a living. Most of my friends and colleagues say that their writing and work gets better with music. This is something I could never find favourable. I can either focus on my writing or praise the lyrics!
I try to work on my culinary skills a lot of times when there are days when I am overtly engrossed in preparing the tangy red sauce. I try to mull over the freshly cooked aroma of the oregano and tomato puree. During this time, it doesn’t really help if the background plays ‘Hotel California’ or a quick home workout by a young lad. If I try to listen as to what your exact posture should be when you are going for a run, I end up overcooking or adding more salt.
Thing is, it just doesn’t happen with me. Either I can focus on making a creamy tangy pasta, or I can master some new moves to add to my workout schedule.
Again, a lot of times people tell me to listen to them while am writing. When I tell them that I can’t as am writing, they often say that I can continue writing while listening to them. Thing is that it just doesn’t happen with me!
And yet, people say that women are multitaskers!
Clearly, there are exceptions.
Well, for several unidentified reasons, society has levied this thought on us that women are great at multi-tasking. Hell, no! Not me at least!
