How Observant Can You Be?

Ever since my childhood, I have belonged to that category of people who would often miss out on things, that were placed right in front of them. A lot of times, mom asked me to pass on the salt pot to her, and I would seamlessly go around looking for it, while she would pull it out right before my eyes. This behavior of mine continued for a very long time.

I guess till I started watching Sherlock…

Now, as most of you would know that besides being a magnanimous detective, Sherlock had this impeccable sense of observation, where simply by looking at a person he could decipher his behaviour. Like what he ate the previous day, whether he has pets, where he went, and the like. If I could learn one lesson through the entire series, it was this that a lot of things can work in your own favour, if you develop this habit of observation.

Fair enough. I decided to challenge myself to a nearly impossible task!

Because like I said I am terrible at this!

People have literally stopped talking to me because they saw me walk past them and not stopping to say Hi! But the point is that I couldn’t recognise them! But, nobody understands this!

Time to challenge myself.

It has been quite some time since I started inculcating this ‘observation’ habit in me. I have literally spent hours to observe the behavioural pattern of a person.

The result?

Well, to be honest, I have been caught multiple times by people, and some of them have even asked me as to why am I staring at them. Oh, that was such a miserable feeling! I didn’t know where to hide my face and was literally shivering with embarrassment!

Well, I guess good things in life take time. Maybe I am still in that phase where am learning still. Maybe, I still need to learn the hacks.

Moving on, tell us how observant in your life have you been?
