Building The Next Five Years

Hello there, my dear readers, how are y’all holding up? I hope the week is treating you well, in my case I have to say that all is well, sure there are ups and downs, but, hey isn’t that exactly what life is all about? I have made peace with the process now, but I cannot stop believing in the future.

Just the other day a friend of mine asked me where would I want to position or see myself in the upcoming days, and almost without any thought I said that I see myself as the most successful person ever, one that has true control of the mind, and is financially free. He smiled and called it “interesting.”

Well, it is a dream for many to be financially free but how many of us can actually truly believe in it? I have understood in these many years of my professional life that it is important for every individual to gain financial freedom. But the point is are we willing to do the hard work?

One of my most favourite people of all times Swami Vivekananda would often say, “Be a man, make a man”, meaning if you want to inculcate any of your teachings to others make sure you yourself are equipped with that knowledge. You see, the human mind by default has a tendency to think negatively. Now, if we are at that stage where we cannot actually believe looking at our bank statements that we cannot achieve financial freedom, even then we must be willing to do the work and have firm beliefs in ourselves.

Each time there is a negative thought within us, we gotta work hard and replace it with our goals, and positive thoughts. Also, we have to work hard to work on our list of Whys, for example I am working extra hard and giving it all it takes because my Why is clear that I want to provide a good life to my family and also to myself.

The other day a senior colleague of mine had called as she was facing some problems at her work place, she is 37, and I vouch for the fact that whatever I do I do not want to end up like her and for that I am working extra hard and giving it my all. So, how can we say that our lives can be different in the upcoming five years? Well, all of that depends on what we are doing right now, I mean our efforts.

If we feel that the amount of actions we took all this while are good then we just have to take a look at our last five years. If we are content leading that kind of a life then of course, there is no problem.

In my case I have to say that I am not very content living how I have lived in the last five years and I would want to change that, like I said that I am all for financial freedom, and all for building up the next five years of my life.

Now, all of us know that after five years we will all reach somewhere. If we think that we gotta reach a place that is worth remembering then we gotta really pull up our socks and act now. And, I am pretty confident that someday people would point towards us and narrate our stories as success stories, and that is how our next five years would look like.
