5 Reasons Why I Love Writing About Startups the Most
Over the days of growing up and maturing, I have connected mostly with the titles of a journalist, an author, a storyteller and a poet. Though the common string that attaches the titles are words, yet each one of them have their distinct roles. And, I don each hat with a nondetachable pride. Complying with the title, let me focus on the journalistic part of me for the time being.
I got associated with the word ‘startup’ during my graduation days. And, the word always enticed me. While back then, I could fathom that a startup is a lot more than just starting a business, yet a lot of things were practically unknown to me. Now, I decipher that this breed is the cool clan. They are the multi-taskers. And of course, big time dreamers. Though there are a lot more things I intend to share, however for the sake of my readers, let me restrict my excitement to five points only:
- There is always something new about them to write
Yes. And I mean every word of it. They would say that either they are ready with the beta testing of their product, or maybe some really tough investor has come up on board. The fact is that startup founders never fail to surprise. I guess that is what makes them so very special. Also, you don’t have to jostle with words. Words come automatically.
- Startup founders are always high on energy
They might not take your call or not reply back to your messages, but you are sure to get an apology text. There are two probable chances : 1. Either asking you to return their call at a time that favors them, or 2. They themselves would suggest a time of getting back to you. But, you are sure to hear back from them. :)
- They are innovative and conversations with them are never boring
My friends call me a nerd, and practically I read up a lot. My profession demands the same to be more direct. Yet, each time I talk to an entrepreneur, I am literally ashamed of the little I know. Yes, innovation constitutes a major part of their grey matter, once you take any problem to them, they would definitely find a solution for the same.
Plus, you get to know so much when you are around them. So, a coffee or dinner night with them is a grand opportunity. :)
- They are risk takers, and that is the fun of writing about them
When you read up about them you would see that most of them are dropouts from great institutions. Or at least they left their cushy jobs to pursue their entrepreneurial dream. Imagine IIT and IIM folks declining highly paid jobs! And the weirdest part is that they start from scratch.
- Their integrity towards their product
Well, this is something commendable and indeed a sight to watch. They eat, sleep and drink their product. And that is what makes them so genuine and so loving.
Summing up, I can say that this entrepreneurial world is magical, and it has an essence so very contagious. Perhaps, this is what makes them so special and provides me a reason to write about them everyday…
